In the December of 2010, I got this wonderful opportunity to visit the ‘beauuuutiful‘ hill-station town of Manali. Manali is a small town in the Northern part of India, in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. Its a famous tourist place and a hill station with really peaceful and beautiful people. I call them ‘beautiful’ especially because, apart from having very warm hearts, they have these appealing ‘rosy cheeks’ :D Don’t get me wrong, but maybe its because of the climate !! Hey Folks,

Many of you might be wondering, why I wasn’t blogging regularly and not updating you all with exciting and funny information the last couple of days.
I was working of this project called ‘Hopping Across Cultures‘.

Finally, I am so happy and excited to announce this blog. 🙂 In a nutshell, Hopping Across Cultures is my take on my experiences in Photography and travel, and all the behind the scene stories.

I had listened to a song ‘Remember the Name‘ by ‘Fort Minor‘ once, and found its lyrics to be quite befitting. It goes like this :

“…. this is ten percent luck, twenty percent skill
Fifteen percent concentrated power of Will
Five percent pleasure, fifty percent pain
And a hundred percent reason to remember the name …”

This being my first post, I thought of starting off with my name ~ Ankur Sharma.

The meaning of my name ‘Ankur‘ can be well understood from the above picture. It means “shoots” or “the first beginning of a plant as it develops from a seed, or a new growth on an already existing plant“. And as seen in the picture, the early beginnings or the shoots are well noticeable, and here’s my beginning. My first post 🙂
